I just got a copy of "Sara's Secrets for Weeknight Meals", by Sara Moulton, a chef at Gourmet Magazine. I've always liked her cooking style, and every recipe of hers I've tried has been a rip-roaring success, so this week I'll have two recipes from this book.
Welsh Rarebit (which I'll serve with a salad)
Barbecued Kielbasa (I'm going to follow her recommendations and serve this with white rice and coleslaw)
I'm also going to make the curried noodles from "How to Cook Everything" by Mark Bittman, and a recipe of my mom's (by way of Lynn Bedford Hall, one of South Africa's celebrity chefs), for bobotie, a traditional South African Malay dish made with lots of spices and ground beef that's absolutely delish, even if some of the ingredients sound weird. I usually raise my eyebrows at fruity things in my non-fruity dishes, but it really works here. The bobotie I'm going to save for Saturday, because it's a bit labor intensive. Bobotie gets served with rice.
I'd like to post the recipes that I use, I just need to figure out the best place for that. Maybe I'll feature the recipe in the entry for each. I'm no blog navigation expert, so suggestions are welcome.
